Elon Musk and his companies have unveiled a number of groundbreaking projects, from the world’s most powerful rocket to innovative flamethrowers.
To this day, Musk continues to baffle tech experts, releasing one jaw-dropping product after another.
But this Youtuber just put Elon Musk’s eye-opening claim about his Cybertruck to the test.
Elon Musk’s claim of a bulletproof Cybertruck was just put to the test
Tesla vehicles remain Elon Musk’s most popular invention, with Tesla proliferating across the entire globe.
Just about every time you get in your car to buy groceries or go to work, you will see somebody driving a Tesla.
However, this year Tesla Cybertrucks have hit the road, and so far, owners have given mixed reviews over this highly anticipated truck.
During Cybertruck development, Elon Musk attempted to court potential buyers with the claim that his Cybertruck can resist bullets.
Now that Cybertrucks have hit the market, people have attempted to put that to the test, including Youtuber JerryRigEverything.
Last month, JerryRigEverything’s creator, Zack Nelson, posted a video of him testing Cybertruck’s resistance to a myriad of bullets.
9 mm proof?
The video has already gained over 7.3 million views on Youtube.
At the beginning of the video, Nelson says, “Nothing is actually bulletproof. There’s always going to be a bigger bullet, but today, we are going to see scientifically where that line gets drawn.”
He starts off with a 9 mm handgun, using full metal jacket 115 grain bullets.
Remarkably, the Cybertruck resisted all 5 of his 9 mm shots.
He then moves to some smaller bullets, including .22 LR and .17 HMR bullets.
The .22 LR shots barely made a dent, however the blazing fast .17 HMR rounds went right through the door.
Nelson then moves to a .223 round, commonly used in AR-15s. Like the .17 HMR round, the .223 round went straight through the door.
.50 cal. proof?
However, these tests were not enough for Zack Nelson. He then moves up to a substantially larger .50 caliber round, which blasted through the door, leaving a gaping exit wound.
In a nutshell, this test demonstrates that Cybertrucks can stop lower-speed ammunition, such as 9mm rounds and .22 LR rounds, but cannot stifle faster rounds, such as .17 HMR, .223, and especially .50 caliber rounds.
Zack Nelson’s test shows exactly what he said at the beginning of the video, that nothing is ever fully bulletproof, as there is always a bigger bullet.
Even though the Cybertruck took damage from some rounds, it effectively repelled .22 LR and 9mm rounds, which is, of course, the most popular round for handguns.
Realistically, these are the rounds that an average Joe would worry about dodging while driving through the streets, which should give Cybertruck owners some relief.
