Hunting and fishing are traditions in America that predate the country’s founding.
That’s why Democrats are waging war on outdoorsmen.
Now, Joe Biden has spun up one dirty trick to try to crack down on hunting and fishing.
Democrats trying to ban the use of lead ammunition for hunting
Democrats are using the environment as cover for trying to curtail hunting and fishing as well as undermine Americans’ Second Amendment rights.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) issued a rule last summer to ban the use of lead ammunition and fishing tackle at eight national wildlife refuges by 2026.
Former President Barack Obama’s FWS issued a similar rule on the final day of his administration in January 2017 that was overturned by the Trump administration.
Extreme environmentalists claim that lead poses a long-term threat to ecosystems.
The California Condor almost going extinct was blamed on lead in the environment.
“Lead ammo kills birds long after being fired from a gun,” Audubon vice president Sarah Greenberger said in 2017 after the Obama rule was overturned.
“Banning toxic ammunition and fishing tackle in wildlife refuges is necessary for their long-term survival as well as our own safety.”
Banning them at the wildlife refuges is the first step in the lawless Biden administration’s plan to ban them on all federal lands.
Lead ammunition and tackles are cheaper and more readily available.
This is another attempt to make the lives of America’s outdoorsmen more difficult.
There’s little scientific evidence that lead has a significant effect on wildlife populations, and the FWS didn’t cite any in their decision to issue the rule.
House Republicans pass a bill to stop Biden’s lead ammunition and tackle ban
Representative Rob Wittman’s (R-VA) Protecting Access For Hunters and Anglers Act passed the House with a 214-201 vote.
The bill prohibits the Secretary of the Interior or the Secretary of Agriculture from banning lead ammunition and tackle on federal land unless it’s required by state law.
Three Republicans voted against the bill, while seven Democrats – most of whom are facing competitive re-election races – voted in favor of it.
Wittman noted on the House floor during the debate over the bill that its opposition consisted of people who don’t fish or hunt.
“People who have never gone hunting or fishing don’t know what the heck they’re talking about,” Wittman said.
“The Biden administration’s effort to ban lead ammo and tackle is ridiculous and isn’t based in science. My Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act will ensure federal agencies don’t unreasonably limit access for sportsmen and women.”
House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-AR) said that the bill would promote access to hunting.
“Congressman Wittman has long been a supporter of sportsmen and women and knows firsthand how access to lands and waters is essential for conservationists across the country,” Westerman said.
“His Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act will ensure states follow the best available science – not the whims of bureaucrats in D.C. – and keep ammunition and tackle costs low, thereby promoting ongoing access for future generations of hunters and anglers.”
The bill has no chance of passing a Democrat-controlled Senate, but if it’s brought to a vote, it could give Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) a painful decision.
He’s the most vulnerable Democrat up for re-election in the Senate and represents a state with a large population of outdoorsmen.
Democrats are using junk science to try and hamper America’s hunters and fishermen from using public lands.
