Crime has gotten completely out of control in Chicago after decades of Democrat misrule.
Residents of the Windy City are getting bone-chilling wake-up calls.
And a Chicago 911 operator just left a woman slack-jawed with this message Democrats will hate.
Chicago residents can’t count on the police to protect them
The crime-ridden city of Chicago is going broke from bloated public pensions and reckless spending.
Money for essential services like staffing the police department and having enough 911 operators is taking a back seat to pay pensions and debt – half of Chicago’s budget.
More than half of 911 calls in the city have no police officers to respond to high-priority incidents like murders, rapes, and assaults.
It took police more than 20 minutes to arrive at the site of a triple murder, with more victims seriously injured nearby in August 2022.
Residents of Chicago are on their own for self-defense with the police sometimes more than an hour away from responding to a crime.
A mother living in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood named Michelle found out the hard way about relying on the police.
Michelle went to let her dog out at 12:30 PM and left the door open.
Two men used that opening to break into her home in broad daylight.
“I saw two men wearing masks standing inside my house,” Michelle said. “I screamed – ‘I am calling the police’ and they bolted.”
She and a neighbor chased after the home intruders before she called 911.
“They told me dispatch was on the way and wait outside,” Michelle recalled.
Michelle waited for someone to arrive but no one ever showed.
She called 911 six times trying to get ahold of someone who could help her.
Chicago woman gets the most important advice of her life on a 911 call
Michelle was frustrated on her sixth call to 911 and asked to speak to a supervisor.
“A gentleman got on and said sorry to say we have no units to send you…then there was an awkward pause,” Michelle recalled.
Wicker Park is a trendy neighborhood in Chicago that’s become one of the more expensive places to live in the city.
The 911 operator explained to Michelle the reality of living in Chicago.
“He also recommended I call my alderman and I said ‘why’ and he said to encourage him to hire more police,” Michelle recounted. “The dispatcher also asked me if I would consider defending myself. . .if I had a weapon or considered getting one.”
The old adage is that “when seconds count, police are minutes away.”
In Chicago, that can be hours.
Residents of the city are on their own to protect themselves from criminals.
A gun is the great equalizer for women to protect themselves and their families.
Michelle said that the police finally arrived after four hours.
Chicago Police told NBC Chicago that 911 calls are prioritized based on an immediate threat of harm to someone and that this call was a lower priority.
Chicago’s crime problems are a painful reminder of why the right to keep and bear arms is so important.
