John Fetterman has become a wildcard among Democrats for being willing to criticize his party.
Now he’s bucking his party once again.
And John Fetterman joined Congressional Republicans and utterly devastated Joe Biden’s radical agenda.
British territory in the Caribbean is unjustly holding Americans for possessing ammunition
The Turks and Caicos islands – a British overseas territory – are one of the many destinations in the Caribbean for Americans looking for a beach vacation.
But what was supposed to be a relaxing getaway turned into a nightmare for some American tourists this year.
Five Americans have been arrested by authorities in Turks and Caicos for accidentally having ammunition in their luggage.
A law was passed in 2022 that mandated a minimum 12-year prison sentence for anyone bringing firearms or ammunition onto the islands.
Less than 20 bullets were found between the five Americans with one of them having only two rounds.
All of them say it was an innocent mistake and none of them had a firearm with them.
Their bags were searched by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents who didn’t uncover the ammunition either.
Now these Americans are being held in the Turks and Caicos while they await their trial.
President Joe Biden and his State Department have been no help in trying to get these American citizens released.
The U.S. Embassy in Nassau simply posted a message warning travelers to check their bags for ammunition before their trip to Turks and Caicos.
Biden won’t lift a finger to help them because gun owners are at the bottom of his priority list.
That’s why a bipartisan Congressional delegation is trying to free these unjustly detained Americans.
John Fetterman and Congressional Republicans try to free Americans trapped in Turks and Caicos
U.S. Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) is a down-the-line leftist but he’s willing to occasionally break with his party.
His constituent, Pennsylvania resident Bryan Hagerich is one of the Americans held in Turks and Caicos awaiting trial.
Fetterman, U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), Representatives Josh Brecheen (R-OK), Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA), and Bob Good (R-VA) traveled to Turks and Caicos to ask authorities to give leniency to their constituents being held there on ammunition charges.
Fetterman said after meeting with government officials he felt “optimistic that we can get this resolved.”
“We had the opportunity to meet each of the detained Americans, who were in good spirits but want to go home,” Fetterman said in a statement. “These people did not set out to break the law. They are people who made a mistake and now face substantial time in prison because of it. As we articulated to TCI officials, I urge the court to be lenient when addressing this case.”
Mullin told Good Morning America that they “didn’t find a real path forward” after the meeting.
“I felt like they were doing their job, which is representing Turks and Caicos. We went there doing our job, representing the United States with real concerns,” Mullin said. “I mean, you have currently five Americans being charged … and among them all they had less than 20 bullets.”
The job of advocating for Americans detained overseas is supposed to fall on the State Department.
But the Biden administration has left Americans stranded in Afghanistan, Israel, and Haiti.
Now the Americans trapped in Turks and Caicos have to hope that government officials there will listen to the Congressional delegation.
