A lot of things can go wrong during a day in the woods.
But this is what nightmares are made of.
And You will be horrified to watch just how bad of a day you will have if this happens to you in the woods.
Hunting isn’t for the modern day’s wussies
In today’s day and age, many men have taken up modern pursuits that would leave their grandfathers disgusted.
The average guy today is nothing but an overgrown boy with money, as they spend hours of their day wasting away playing video games or surfing the world wide web.
But for a handful of real men out there left in this crumbling world, they still take up one of man’s oldest traditions – hunting.
There are few older pursuits in the world than hunting.
Even before the establishment of civilization, man had been hunting to provide for his family.
And today, like in the early days of man, there are always dangers that lurk behind every tree.
It’s not that rare for a hunter these days to come face to face with a bear or possibly even a mountain lion.
And avid hunters have all heard about the horrors of what happens when a treestand malfunctions.
And every time you are taking a dump in the woods, you are looking over your shoulder to make sure bigfoot ain’t sneaking up behind you.
But one of the biggest fears that keeps most hunters up at night is a plugged gun barrel.
It can happen to the best.
You get out of the truck and the 12 gauge just takes a nose dive right into the mud.
Or maybe your rifle got stuck right in a pile of sand on a creek bank after you fell trying to cross the three feet wide body of water.
And when it happens, you are left wondering what exactly will happen if you just leave the gun as it is plugged.
Well, now we have an answer, thanks to Kentucky Ballistics.
12 Gauges aren’t made for the wild
Scott from Kentucky Ballistics just gave us one of the most thorough examples of what happens when your gun is plugged.
He covered numerous scenarios that we could all face in the wilderness, including having your gun clogged by mud, dirt, cleaning cloth, sand, and water (along with the random pack of cookie dough you might face in the wild).
And he tested both the 12 gauge shotgun and an AR-15.
As you might imagine, the 12 gauge shotgun didn’t survive any form of plugging.
Nearly every thing shoved up its barrel caused the 12 gauge to do its best cartoon banana peel impersonation.
But, what is shocking about this video is the fact that the AR-15 survived every single plug thrown at it.
Nothing stopped the AR-15 from clearing its round without causing any noticeable cracks or damage.
That’s impressive considering that nearly a foot of mud was shoved down its barrel.
So the next time you are out stomping through the woods with your 12 gauge, you better make sure ain’t nothing in the barrel.
