An election year means that Democrats are trying to go on the offensive.
Now they’re pulling a brazen political stunt to undermine the Constitution.
And a Trump impeachment ringleader launched this awful assault on freedom.
Democrat impeachment manager launches smear campaign against guns
Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) is most notable for being the lead impeachment manager for the second impeachment hoax against former President Donald Trump over January 6. He is a far-left radical who was backed by Our Revolution – a socialist group that grew out of U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) 2016 Presidential campaign.
Now he’s launching a new gun control push with the grossly misnamed Clean Firearm Procurement Act. The bill would require the Attorney General to release gun trace data collected by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to publish a public list of firearms that are “consistently and dramatically overrepresented” in crimes. The ATF collects gun trace data on the use of firearms in crimes for law enforcement.
Since 2003, the Tiahrt Amendment has prevented the ATF from sharing gun trace data with anyone other than law enforcement agencies. Federal Firearms Licensed dealers are required to report to the ATF when they have sold more than 25 guns in a year that are used in a crime in less than three years.
The bill also empowers the Attorney General to prevent any firearms businesses that sell, distribute, or manufacture firearms that get put on the ATF’s published trace data list from contracting with the federal government. Any common firearm is going to be considered “consistently and dramatically overrepresented” in crime under the bill. That means if Glock makes its way onto the ATF’s published trace data list then Attorney General Merrick Garland could refuse to do business with them. That could prevent the FBI, the Border Patrol, the U.S. Marshals Service, and other federal agencies from being able to buy Glocks as service weapons.
“The federal government should not be giving lucrative federal contracts to the bad-apple gun dealers who are consistently selling firearms to people who use them in violent crimes or transfer them to people who use them in violent crimes,” Raskin said in a statement. U.S. Senator Alex Padilla is going to introduce the Senate version of the bill.
Raskin is painting the target with this bill
The goal of this bill is to paint the target on firearm dealers and manufacturers for the anti-gun politicians and the gun control lobby. The bill wants the Attorney General to violate the Tiahrt Amendment by publishing a list of guns used in crime. Guns that end up on that list are going to be subjected to frivolous lawsuits for their misuse in crimes. And they can be stigmatized and turned into bogeymen like the AR-15. These guns will be subjected to bans in anti-gun jurisdictions like Chicago.
Firearm makers will face pressure campaigns against them and other companies they engage in business with because of the criminal misuse of their products. Anti-gunners consistently try to shift the blame from the criminal who uses the gun onto the seller and the manufacturer. This is like publishing a list of the most commonly used vehicles in drunk driving accidents. No serious person thinks that Ford is responsible for someone getting into an accident with their vehicle. But that’s the dishonest game the anti-gunners play when they blame Glock for a criminal using one. The idea is to make something so toxic to the general public that it builds support for gun control. No one is pushing the Ford Control Act because of a drunk driving accident.
