The Supreme Court has become an obstacle to the Left’s extreme agenda.

Democrat-controlled states are constantly trying to find gimmicks to work around the high court’s rulings.

And now New York is trying to subvert the Supreme Court with this dirty trick.

New York is trying to ban Glocks using one weird trick

Glock is one of the most popular and best-selling brands of semi-automatic handguns in the country.

The Austrian firearm’s notoriety has made it a frequent target for anti-gunners.

A bill working its way through the New York State Legislature would ban Glocks and semi-automatic guns in the state.

Anti-gun Senator Zellnor Myrie (D-NY), who represents a crime-ridden section of Brooklyn, is claiming to be targeting “Glock switches” with the legislation.

Glock switches, or auto sears, are small devices that can convert the rate of fire on a semi-automatic firearm to fully automatic.

New York Democrats claim that “machine guns” are increasingly being used by criminals and blame Glock for the problem.

Myrie’s bill is a Trojan Horse for making the sale of handguns illegal in the state of New York.

Glock isn’t specifically targeted in the bill; firearms retailers are in his crosshairs.

The bill makes it a felony for “any person, dealer, firm, partnership, or corporation” to sell or distribute “as merchandise a convertible pistol.”

New York Democrat wants to ban semi-automatic handguns

Myrie said it’s the responsibility of the gunmakers to come up with a way to prevent their firearms from being compatible with auto sears.

But this is something that Glock or no other gunmaker could ever stop.

New York State Rifle & Pistol Association president Tom King said that there’s always going to be a workaround on any attempt to prevent the use of auto sears.

“I guarantee you there’s an engineer out there or a self-taught gunsmith out there who is going to work a way around it,” King said.

This is the point of the bill.

Gunmakers would never be able to satisfy the requirements of Myrie’s bill even if they try to block auto sears because the workarounds will always evolve.

A problem that can’t be solved will make it a felony for New York gun stores to sell semi-automatic handguns or manufacturers to distribute them in the state in perpetuity.

This is a backdoor scheme to unconstitutionally ban semi-automatic handguns using a legal trick.

If the bill passes it would face lawsuits and would likely be struck down under the Supreme Court’s Bruen decision that prevents common-use firearms from being banned.

New York was smacked down in Bruen for violating the Second Amendment, and its state legislature has continued to buck the ruling to pass more gun control.

Democrat-controlled states and cities have been trying to use Glock switches to come after the gunmaker.

Gun Owners of America Vice President Erich Pratt told the Daily Caller News Foundation that New York’s crime problems weren’t from law-abiding gun owners.

“New York has a crime crisis on their hands, and it’s not being fueled by converted Glocks, but rather by their own failure to prosecute crime,” Pratt said. “Gun Owners of America opposes the state’s latest gun ban, as it will only further disarm the law-abiding and do nothing to stop criminals from using automatic weapons when committing crime.”

Democrats can’t accept the Supreme Court’s rulings on the Second Amendment, so they’re constantly scheming to subvert them.

Worse, it appears they’re all but refusing to enforce existing laws that would eliminate a huge number of “switches” on inner-city streets in what can only be described as an effort to convince the law-abiding public to go along with a de facto ban on all handguns.
